Be A Volunteer
Most students feel it is essential for them to do community service even though community service has been made non-compulsory at JC level. It allows them to broaden their view of the outside world, challenge themselves to fulfill tasks and feeling a sense of satisfaction at having met their goals. Some do it for altruistic reasons – to help the underprivileged, the elderly and the needy – a genuine desire to share their happiness, knowledge and experience with others who are less fortunate than them. This is also one way of giving back and contributing to our society. In the past, we have had a number of youth in our church who initiated service projects with us. For those of you who are not aware, you can clock your CIP hours with us.
Become a volunteer and make a difference. We could not have functioned without its many volunteers. There are many ways you can contribute :
- conduct baking workshops;
- tutoring in school work for the foreign students;
- mentoring a mentee;
- reading and story-telling;
- counseling children and adults from the community;
- basic jewellery creation;
- music and movements;
- art and craft;
- supervision of children in class/or in outings;
- translation of articles; and etc.
Community projects do not necessarily have to be long-term commitments. Avail yourself whenever you are available.
Be ignited with a passion within your heart by sharing your skills and doing your community projects with Bethel Community Services!
